Removing a house from a neighborhood isn’t something you see or hear about everyday; yet, there are situations that arise that necessitate the demolition of residential and commercial structures within the city for the safety, health and welfare of the citizens and our community as a whole.
Inspectors from the City of Fairborn Building Inspection and Code Enforcement Divisions investigate and inspect structures within the city that have fallen into disrepair. Code Officials work with the property owner of record to create a course of action that addresses the structures problems. If it is determined by Code Officials that the structure is beyond rehabilitation and repair, then the structure is scheduled for demolition. Structures are only scheduled for demolition if they are a hazard to the safety, health and welfare of the community. State and federal grants, such as the Ohio Attorney General’s Moving Ohio Forward grant, help to pay for the demolition.
